In 1847 the owners of the Eastham Ferry Hotel built a pleasure garden and zoo as a tourist attraction. As you can see in the pictures there are still a few old  features at the Park, the Bear Pit and the old stone walls that elevated the park and its gardens.  A visitor centre, Rangers office and toilets are situated in the courtyard near to the main car park There are picnic areas  throughout the park close to the river.
